About us

The Little Larder is run by Tom and Emily Smith, alongside their little boy Billy.  Both Tom & Emily have been brought up in farming backgrounds, but spent several years working independently shepherding and contracting, before deciding to take over Tom's family farm, and open their Little Larder. The farm stretches along the Troney valley, and is mostly grassland with a portion of managed woodland. Livestock is at the forefront of their business, and they currently farm sheep, cattle, laying hens and Billy’s herd of finishing pigs.

The addition to The Little Larder, was to enable people to source produce directly from their doorstep. By offering local honey, milk, fruit and vegetables alongside their own meat and plenty of other items, it meant a reduction in carbon miles for those products, and an outlet for people to eat seasonal and sustainable produce from suppliers close to home. Their ethos is that the farming works alongside nature, encouraging species diversification, and allowing the livestock to naturally utilise what the farm has to offer.
